Plan Reviews

What happens at an NDIS plan review?

What to expect at your NDIS plan review, how to prepare, and how to get the best funding outcome.

A plan review is a scheduled check of your NDIS plan to see if your supports and funding still meet your needs. Here's what happens and how to prepare.

When do plan reviews happen?

Most plans are reviewed every 12 months, but some run for up to 24 months. You'll be contacted before your plan ends to start the review process.

Types of review

  • Scheduled review — happens at the end of your plan period
  • Unscheduled review — you can request one if your needs have changed significantly

What to prepare

Bring evidence that shows your current supports are working (or not working):

  • Therapist reports — updated assessments from your OT, speech pathologist, psychologist, etc.
  • Progress notes — from your support coordinator or key workers
  • Goal updates — what you've achieved and what you're working towards next
  • Budget breakdown — how you've spent your current funding and what you need going forward

What happens at the review

Your planner will discuss:

  • Your goals and progress
  • What supports are working
  • What needs to change
  • Your funding for the next plan period

How to get the best outcome

  • Start early — gather evidence weeks before your review
  • Be specific — show exactly what supports you need and why
  • Use data — attendance records, therapy progress, and budget tracking
  • Bring support — a family member, advocate, or support coordinator can attend

After the review

You'll receive a new plan within a few weeks. If you disagree with the outcome, you can request a review.
